What to Expect...

A  COMUNITY OF DISCIPLES WHO KNOW CHRIST, ARE BEING CHANGED BY CHRIST, AND ARE COMMITTED TO THE MISSION OF CHRIST

BEFORE YOU arrive

We're looking forward to seeing you.  We know it can be intimidating to show up somewhere new.  Because of our location near the beach, we have visitors nearly every week.  You probably won't be the only one.   We do not have a dress code, and you'll see people dressed more formally and others more comfortably.  Our pastor and most of our regular folks dress in a business-casual style.

WHEN YOU get here

We're presently working to replace our current building with one that is more accessible. Feel free to park as close to the door as you like. We try to save a few spots for visitors.

If you're planning to join us for coffee and Bible study at 9am on a Sunday morning or for Kids Club on Wednesday night, you'll want to use the basement door at the back of the building.   All other services are held upstairs which can be accessed through the double glass doors on either side of the building or at the top of the stairs at in the back.   The ramp on the side of the building is available for those with mobility issues and we're happy to provide an electric wheelchair for those who need it.

Greeters at each door are happy to answer any questions you have and offer you a gift for visiting with us.   We try to make sure you'll go home with something meaningful that will continue to help you grow after your visit: usually a book we hope you'll take, read, and enjoy.

DURING THE SERVICE

If there is one word you use to describe our service, we hope it's something like "purposeful."  There is a reason for everything we do including the songs that we sing and the way that we sing them.  Our goal is to sing songs together whose beauty and truth reflect that of our Savior.

In addition to singing together, we purposefully pray.   You'll notice that we pray several times during the service.   We praise God, confess our sins to him and ask him for what we need in that order.   Listen and pray along.  As you do, we hope that not only will your prayers be answered, but you'll learn how to talk with God and better communicate with Him on your own.

We believe that giving is a privilege and an act of worship.  The offering time is an opportunity for our members and those who wish to do that.  There is no obligation or pressure placed on any visitor to give financially to the church.

The focal point of our service is the message.  Our goal is to exposit or to draw out of the text of Scripture what God has said and how He intends for that truth to impact our lives.   We believe that all of the Bible is ultimately about Jesus and what he has done to glorify himself in the gospel and appeal to listeners to respond to God as He speaks to them without resorting to manipulative tactics.   A typical sermon lasts about 45 minutes.

Our service concludes with a few moments of quiet reflection so that you can worship by responding to what you heard.  After the service is over, most folks stick around and talk a while.  We'd love to have a chance to meet you, introduce you to others and give you a chance to get to know us better too, so we hope you'll stick around!

CHILDCARE

If you need directions to the nursery, just ask the greeter who meets you at the door.  Our ladies are happy look after your infants through age three in the nursery.    Older kids are invited to join us and learn as we worship upstairs.  Just before the message, those in grades three and below will be dismissed to go to our Junior Church classroom and hear a Bible lesson just for them!
